RealStreet, a leading national employment and recruiting firm for the architecture, engineering and construction communities throughout the United States, would like to commend our President, Judy McGovern, for her newly elected role as Board Chair for the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland.

Girl Scouts of Central Maryland named RealStreet President, Judy McGovern, as their new Board Chair for the Board of Directors on May 16, 2018 at the annual council meeting by the council’s voting members. As Chair, Judy will govern the board, which provides oversight for the organization’s finances, handles community relations and is responsible for the community’s policy, planning, review and evaluation.

Violet Apple, the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland’s CEO, supports this decision, stating that “Judy brings to the Board Chair position more than 25 years of Girl Scout involvement with a cumulative impact as girl member, troop leader and service unit level volunteer and more than eight years on the Board of Directors. She has seen the program from many different angles and I am excited to work with her as we work in partnership to ensure girls have the Best Leadership development experience in the central MD area.”

When accepting the role, Judy shared her appreciation, stating “Serving my Girl Scout community has been a joy and a privilege that I am grateful for every single day” and that she “is deeply honored to have the opportunity.” Judy has been involved in Girl Scouting for most of her life. She began as a Brownie, continued through Cadettes, and earned her First Class (now Gold) Award. She has since shared Girl Scouts with her daughter, serving as Troop Leader, Troop Coordinator, Family Share Coordinator, Delegate Chair and National Delegate. She has proudly served as a Board Member as well as on the Executive Board, and has been honored with Girl Scout’s Outstanding Volunteer and Outstanding Leader awards. Judy looks to the coming years in this role with excitement and determination, vowing to do her best to “support the staff, volunteers and the board to reach new heights and achieve the organization’s dreams.”
