Our Commitment to Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy, we provide this notice explaining RealStreet’s online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, it is available on our homepage and wherever personally identifiable information may be requested. This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the RealStreet website.
The Information We Collect
When you browse our website, your IP address (the Internet address of your computer) is recorded so that we may know how you are using our website. Your browser may also automatically provide us with information regarding the type of computer and operating system you are using. This information is used by RealStreet to monitor and improve our website. This information is not linked back to you as an individual user. On some pages, you can make requests, submit job applications and resumes and register to receive materials. In some areas of our website, we request or may request that you provide personal information, including your name, address, email address, telephone number, social security number, contact information, billing information and any other information from which your identity is discernible. In other areas, we collect or may collect demographic information that is not unique to you such as your ZIP code, age, preferences, gender, interests and favorites. In order to tailor our subsequent communications to you and continuously improve our services, we may also ask you to voluntarily provide us with information regarding your personal or professional interests, demographics, experience with our services and contact preferences. Sometimes we collect or may collect a combination of the above types of information. Examples of areas on our website where we collect personal or combined personal and demographic data are pages where you can sign up to provide a resume or qualification information.
The Way We Use Information
RealStreet uses your information to better understand your needs and provide you with better service. Specifically, we use your information to help you either to find an employee or find employment, to communicate back to you, to update you on possible positions available or types of employees available, to foster and deliver the services we offer, to match your resume with open positions and to personalize our website for you. From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you for market research or to provide you with information about other RealStreet services that we think would be of particular interest. At a minimum, we will always give you the opportunity to opt-out of receiving such direct marketing or market research contact. You may exercise this right to opt-out at any time. Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.
We may use your contact information in order to send you email or other communications regarding updates at our website, to contact you about your opinion of current services, specific services provided or potential new services that may be offered. We may also provide additional communications, promotions and information on new opportunities with RealStreet and additional job postings which may be of interest to you. The nature and frequency of these messages will vary depending upon the information we have about you.
If you have provided consent for us to do so, we may also use the information we gather to inform you of other services available from us.
Choices Regarding the Disclosure of Personal Information to Others
We do not disclose your personal information to third parties, or your combined personal and demographic information or information about your use of our website (such as the areas you visit or the services you access), except as set forth below.
We disclose information to third parties if you consent to such disclosure. For example, if you indicate that you would like to receive information about job opportunities, we may supply your contact information to third parties such as employers, recruiters or others for the purpose of sending you email or otherwise communicating with you. We use data we have about you (such as the interests and preferences you have expressed) to determine whether you might be interested in the opportunities with RealStreet. Since our contractors require disclosure of personally identifiable information of employees, or potential employees, we provide to them, we will share your resume and other personally identifiable information described above under “The Information We Collect” with such contractors. Specifically, if you apply for a position with RealStreet, you may be required to obtain a federal government security clearance, and we will provide such information to our contractors and/or the government necessary to assist in the obtaining of a security clearance for you.
We may require your social security number to provide to prospective employers for use in their hiring decisions. When you enter your social security number on our application form, we encrypt it using secure socket layer technology (SSL).
We disclose information if legally required to do so, if requested to do so by a governmental entity or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process; (b) protect our rights or property; (c) prevent a crime or protect national security; or (d) protect the personal safety of users or the public.
We may disclose and transfer information to a third party who, in the future, acquires all or a substantial portion of our business, whether such acquisition is by way of merger, consolidation or purchase of all or a substantial portion of our assets. In addition, in the event we become the subject of a bankruptcy proceeding, whether voluntary or involuntary, we or our trustee in bankruptcy may sell, license or otherwise dispose of such information in a transaction approved by the bankruptcy court. You will be notified of sale of all or a substantial portion of our business to a third party via email or through a prominent notice posted on our website.
Other users of our website may not have access to your contact information and your contact information is not displayed in our website.
If you apply for a position with RealStreet through our website, you may be asked to provide information on your gender, race or other protected status where permitted by applicable law (in addition to other personally identifiable information described above.) Employers are required by law to gather this information from job applicants for reporting and record keeping requirements. You should understand that if provided by you, this information will be used by us only in accordance with applicable law and will not be used in making any negative employment decisions. All information provided will be kept separate from your expression of interest in any job opportunity. Providing this information is strictly voluntary and you will not be subject to any adverse action or treatment if you choose not to provide this information.
